Fight Disinformation Online

What is the Indivisible Truth Brigade?

Indivisible Truth Brigade is an ever-growing community of grassroots truth-tellers who effectively disrupt the flow of disinformation and misinformation online and offline. We do this by strategically writing and sharing powerful, personal, and unified counter-messages to the most damaging and destabilizing lies. We track our impact, learn, make adjustments and do it again–and again–together, to reclaim a civil society built on the shared value of the pursuit of objective truths.

Yes! A bunch of grassroots volunteers can throw a meaningful wrench into the democracy-destroying lie machine. Independent studies prove that we can persuade a lot of people to stop spreading lies with just one strategic message or conversation. Online and offline, in person and on social media, you, along with more than 6,000 other Truth Brigade members, will clear the path to a sustainable democracy!

Fight Disinformation About Clean Energy

Climate disinformation doesn’t always get the same kind of attention as other issues — that’s in part because the fossil fuel industry has been perfecting its messaging strategies for decades, and is working to stay under the radar to accomplish its aims.

You’ll no longer see as much of the “climate change is crazy liberal nonsense” messages that stopped progress in its tracks two and three decades ago. Now that most Americans believe our climate crisis is real and caused by humans, the fossil fuel industry spends big money to persuade the public more insidiously. They claim – often successfully – that “sure, we’d all like to see clean energy, but it just costs too much, and will cost jobs.” Or they say, “yes, we’re making big changes” when they’re not.

The doubts spread by many corporations and self-interested politicians and pundits are just enough to keep the causes of the climate disasters we see – and don’t see – out of the headlines.

Pushing Back Against False Claims That we “Can’t Afford” IRA Benefits

“We can’t afford it.” That’s the favorite phrase of every bad actor who wants to undermine investments in programs that protect our people and our planet. This is the same song sung decade after decade by people and corporations who prioritize maintaining their own wealth and power. The less government programs support the general population, the less the general population believes in the efficacy of an active and inclusive government. This vicious economic circle of lies is very old – and very, very successful.

Economic disinformation is both broad and deep. It triggers fears about our ability to support our families with racial lies about immigrants or other vulnerable groups “replacing us.” It seeds unnecessary defensiveness with lies about Black and Brown people –who have been systematically denied economic advantages– as therefore not deserving of government support. It slithers into arguments against climate support, public education support and even public radio and television support – all such lies created to shift the public attention away from the disastrous harm done by a government that doesn’t take an active role in spending our tax dollars to support our people.

We can't let these lies fuel complacency, apathy, or even disbelief in the power of investing in America’s communities.
